Always fancied one of these. But at 18 insurance was against me, lol. Sub 9 sec to 60, 1st standard road saloon to achieve that feat.
First production car to have 16 valve engine and alloy wheels standard

Hm. Shame it isn't a GTi. Love the newspaper covering the enivitable rust hole in the spare wheel well. Other than that nice little golf.

😂 even placed it in front of a barn before emptying the vacuum bag over it.
What is this concept about leaving mud and old dust on them?
Do they think it adds value 🤔

My uncle had one just like this beauty including a hole in the floor which you had to keep your foot on during rainy days !
Yep, I drove one for a Wine and Spirits merchant in the ‘60s. Great little beast😍😍
My dad had one and converted it to a camper van from a fruit and veg van. We went all over the country in it. Took some time to get anywhere though. 🤣
My dad bought one brand new from Gray's of Chatham in 1970. Loved it

Cool car I had one of them great fun 👍
Lloyd Trevis another one for the stable ?
Ford USA used to do something similar with their high performance specials in the 60s & 70s
My mate who owns a Ford dealership says these were all sent to a place called ‘Frog Island’ before being purchased by Ford dealers back in the day. I had a Mk3 Escort cab with one of these on it too.
Yes I had a Mk3 1.6 diesel Ruscort with one , originally a 'Ford' car and and a REALLY strange spec !
I had an early ford puma with that on. Was so early that when I went to the dealership for parts they said the production date was before production.
Yes, that would have been a Ford of Britain company car. All their company cars carried that disc. This alerted the garage to contact Ford if there was a warranty claim, and often the cars were taken back into the factory for examination. The lucky employee usually got a new one to replace it. I suspect if you have the full vehicle history you will find the first owner was FMC.
I worked for Fords in the 90’s for their customer services department. When we had to buy back a customers car due to warranty defects or if there was not a technical solution at the time to fix the vehicle we would ensure one of these discs was fitted. The Ford system also would be updated and showed no Manufacturer Warranty as well should anyone do a Vin check
Had a few over the years. Sometimes they were cars that had been returned to dealer under a warranty claim when relatively new and purchaser refunded. Car sold on with no warranty.
The cars used at Davenrty the ford college used to have these on too. Presumed it’s because they were stripped and reassembled by students
Yes I spent many a day over at Frog Island in the compound looking at and appraising cars to buy. Happy days. Some real odd spec cars. Some troubled cars were sold this way
One of the reasons was that it was a car loaned to the motoring press for road tests / reports to be published. They typically got thrashed and had a hard time so Ford wouldn’t put a warranty on them when they were sold on.
I think this ad needs revising, a few things don’t quite line up with this one 🤔
Seen loads with them on when nearly new ford put it on before it came to us dealers but cars were a bit cheaper because when it was new it had a problem we used to just take them off before we sold them so customer never knew
It couldve been modded from new voiding warranty or possible import or export model or just one of the test fleet initially released, the press cars had a hard time especially the 4x4 sierras as Ford claimed you couldn't wheel spin them
Common through British Car Auctions back in the day 80/90’s when Ford had closed sales to Main Dealers
My Sierra cosworth D178SVX had one rivited to the slam panel, mine was believed to be a Ford demo/fleet car
On Guernsey plates anyone know any history of this car in the Channel Islands 🤔
Wonderful beasts only better when gearbox upgraded
Yes, seen that a few times on fords when I worked for a main dealer
You'd like to think that if Andy had owned it he would have dithed the shitty original manifolds and put a better flowing set on.
Worked on plenty transit Van's with them on them they just got shoved onto hire fleet
I think ex police were the same to
Ex-Channel Isle hire cars had these when they came back to the mainland to be sold.
Seen it in a few ex police cars
There was many reasons for them no one reason
Yep means it was damaged when new at the dealer
